My stay at the campsite was quite pleasant overall, as we enjoyed a lovely area for our tent and friendly interactions with staff. However, there were a few issues with noise and amenities, particularly regarding the bathroom situation and some unruly behavior from other guests. Considering the price, though, it was a good value for a last-minute getaway.
Rooms

We pitched our tent in the rally field, which was fairly even and comfortable for sleeping. The area was a bit crowded, but it was manageable.

The staff were generally pleasant and provided useful information during check-in, including a discount for a local attraction.

We enjoyed our stay in a two-bedroom static van, which was clean and had central heating, making it comfortable. The location is peaceful with helpful amenities nearby, but the clubhouse didn't serve food, and we had to walk a bit to find dining options. The value for money was decent, though some of the facilities could use improvement.
Rooms
8.0
The static van was immaculate and well-equipped, but we found the cutlery and mugs lacking for a six-person accommodation.
Service
6.0
The staff at the shop were friendly, but our experience in the clubhouse was tainted by one rude member.
Location
9.0
The site is peaceful and located a short drive from a nice pub serving good food.
Dining
5.0
There were no dining options available on-site, which was inconvenient, and we had to go to a nearby pub for meals.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities were limited, with a new clubhouse being built, and no food was available on-site.

We had an incredible time during our stay! The campsite was well-kept and clean, and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. However, we faced a few issues with loud neighbors late at night which disrupted our peace. Overall, it was a great experience, especially with the ongoing improvements to the facilities.
Rooms

The site we stayed on was clean, but it was on a slope, making it challenging to set up our awning.
Service
6.0
The staff were helpful when we needed to change pitches due to the slope, but one member was less accommodating.
Location

The campsite is in a tranquil area next to an open field with local wildlife, which was lovely but not ideal for setting up an awning.

I had a mixed experience staying here. The site has potential with its current renovations, and we enjoyed easy access to Beamish, which was a highlight for our family. However, some facilities felt outdated, and one staff member's attitude was off-putting. Despite these issues, the overall value for the location is reasonable, especially with the discount for the museum.
Rooms

The pitches were okay but could really use some maintenance. We did notice some were in better shape than others.
Service
5.0
We received a warm welcome initially, but one staff member in the bar was quite rude when we asked to watch a football game. This left a bad taste in what could've been a more enjoyable time.
Location
9.0
The location is fantastic for visiting Beamish, as it's just a mile away, making it very convenient for families.

Facilities

The facilities are functional but in need of some updates. The new toilet block is a step in the right direction, but several areas still feel tired.

5.6/10
My stay was a mixed bag. While I appreciated the lovely countryside setting and the friendly atmosphere from fellow campers, I was disappointed by the poorly maintained facilities and the challenging access roads. It felt like the site overpromised on its amenities and accessibility, especially for families or disabled guests. Overall, the value didn't quite match the expectations set by the advertised ratings.
Rooms
5.0
The pitch I was given was limited and unable to accommodate my awning comfortably, which was pretty frustrating.
Service
6.0
Staff were helpful in moving me to a better pitch after I voiced my concerns, but one response felt dismissive.
Location
5.0
While close to Beamish, the access roads are quite narrow and tricky, which made walking to the site feel unsafe.
Dining
Facilities
5.0
Facilities were lacking; the shower block was mostly out of order, and the disabled facilities were not functional or safe.
